No rain, no flowers: how a hard season became a workshop

October 23, 2026 · by Nicole Leduc

The name came before any of this was a business.

A few years ago I went through a season that felt like nothing but rain — the kind where you keep showing up and the sky just keeps opening. I won't pretend that's a fun story. What I will tell you is what carried me: I started making things with my hands.

Not good things. Not gallery things. Just... things. Beads on wire. Paint on cheap canvas. A little moon for the window because it caught the light.

Making by hand, one piece at a time

Here's what nobody tells you about creating when you're struggling: the point is not the thing you make. The point is the twenty minutes where your hands are busy and your head gets quiet. The point is finishing something on a day when everything else feels unfinished.

One day I looked around at people I love going through their own rains — grief, recovery, just plain hard years — and thought: they need this too. Not therapy, exactly. Not an art class, exactly. A table, some supplies, a little guidance, and permission to make something imperfect.

So I started hosting workshops. First in living rooms, then in studios, then outside under golden-hour light. We paint, we talk or we don't, and everyone leaves holding something they made.

Works in progress on the studio table

No rain, no flowers. The hard seasons are where the growing happens — the flowers aren't in spite of the rain, they're because of it.

If you're in one of those seasons right now, come sit at the table. You don't have to be an artist. You just have to be willing. See upcoming dates here.
